Ted Polhemus (född 1947 i Neptune, New Jersey , USA) är en amerikansk antropolog , författare och fotograf som bor och arbetar på Englands sydkust. Hans arbete fokuserar på mode och antimode, identitet och sociologi för stil och kropp - hans mål, att utforska den sociala och kommunikativa betydelsen av personligt uttryck i stil. Han har skrivit eller redigerat mer än ett dussin böcker och tagit många av de fotografier som visas i dem. Han var skapare och kurator för en utställning, kallad "StreetStyle", på Victoria & Albert Museum i London. En av hans mest populära böcker är "Streetstyle: From Sidewalk to Catwalk" (Thames & Hudson 1994), som han ursprungligen skrev som bok för utställningen. Ted Polhemus skrev en uppdaterad version av Streetstyle, som PYMCA publicerade 2010. 2011 publicerade han en reviderad och utökad version av sin tidiga bok Fashion & Anti-fashion . Senast har han utforskat den sociala och kulturella inverkan av babyboomgenerationen och detta har kulminerat i publiceringen 2012 av BOOM! - A Baby Boomer Memoir, 1947-22 .
