Jon Raven (1940–2015) var en engelsk författare och musiker.

Biografi

Jon Raven var bror till författaren och musikern Michael Raven och far till den sena ministeren och Killing Joke -basisten Paul Raven och Gundogs -basisten Daniel Raven. Raven föddes i Wales och utbildades vid Wolverhampton Municipal Grammar School . Hans fru var Kate, från Tettenhall, Wolverhampton. Tillsammans med bror Michael bildade Jon en folkmusikgrupp i Wolverhampton innan han producerade många skivor och böcker och hade många tv- och radiouppträdanden. Han fick diagnosen Parkinsons sjukdom 1996 och dog i augusti 2015 på Compton Hospice i Wolverhampton.

Skrift

Raven är författare till flera facklitterära böcker, majoriteten relaterade till Black Country- historia, seder, folklore och musik och om industrin som är typisk för Black Country-området, till exempel kolbrytning och spiktillverkning.

Hans böcker inkluderar "Folklore and Songs of the Black Country Colliers", "Customs of the Black Country" och "Aynuk's First Black Country Waerd Book".

Raven var medlem i folktrion The Black Country Three tillsammans med bror Michael Raven och Derek Craft. De spelade in sitt självbetitlade debutalbum 1966 för Transatlantic . Efter detta producerade Raven flera solo- och grupp -CD -skivor.
